Mark Wahlberg Confirmed for Transformers 4 – Film Will Pick Up Four Years After Dark of the Moon

After swirling rumors that Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg would be the lead in the next Transformers installment, director Michael Bay has confirmed the news via his personal blog.  This comes as no surprise considering that Bay and Wahlberg have just recently wrapped on the action comedy Pain and Gain.  Bay has also confirmed that the story will not be completely rebooted, but will pick up four years after the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  Hit the jump to read the press releases.

Michael Bay Looking to Hot, Young Hollywood for his ‘Transformers 4′ Leads

Bare with me as I try and give a shit about Transformers 4 long enough to impart this new, little bit of casting development. After saying he wouldn’t do a fourth Transformers flick, Michael Bay is doing a fourth Transformers flick, and after saying he wasn’t casting Mark Wahlberg, he’s casting Mark Wahlberg. At this point any news associated with this GIANT misstep of a movie should be considered false. At least until Bay tells you other wise, then changes his mind about it.

It was rumored from the start Bay wanted a whole new cast for Transformers 4. He was even supposedly – shockingly – looking to cast a young woman in the lead. With what THR is now reporting it seems things are still heading that direction. Competing for the female lead are,
